memoQ has special configuration resources known as "light resources" perhaps because they are easy to carry from one place to another. They help to shape the working environment for translation and review and enable more efficient, focused performance of many tasks. Light resources include
- auto-translation rules that enable the easy translation of patterns like dates, number formats, or references to legislation,
- segmentation rules that define how a newly imported text is split up into segments,
- non-translatable lists that contain expressions that are not to be translated,
- ignore lists that tell your spell checker what expressions to skip,
- autocorrect lists that turn abbreviations into full versions as you type,
- filter configurations that define how to import new documents,
- export path rules that define the name and location of the exported files, and are especially useful for multi-file projects,
- keyboard shortcuts that bind functionality to certain hotkeys,
- QA settings that define what quality assurance checks memoQ needs to perform,
- TM settings that define what qualifies as a translation memory match,
- LiveDocs settings that define what qualifies as a LiveDocs match.
- LQA settings that define an LQA model which you can use in your project.
- memoQ web search that defines the search providers for your web search from within memoQ.
- Font substitution that allows you to change the font for the translated documents on export them.
You manage light resources in the Resource console, the Options or the Settings pane of Project home or in the Server administrator or the Settings section of the PM control window for projects.
When a new project is created, it will use the default resources defined for the project type (local or online). Local project defaults for resources are typically defined in memoQ Options, and defaults for (memoQ server) online projects are defined in the Server administrator under Default server resources.
You can work with online light resources even when you work offline. When you are working with server resources and want to work offline, always go to the memoQ menu, choose Resources, and then click Update Online Resources. You can go offline after you do this.

Changing the installation default resources in memoQ[edit | edit source]
The default resources in memoQ are generally considered to be unchangeable, but that is not strictly true.
A description of how to change the system defaults in local installations in memoQ and on the memoQ Server can be found here.
