Licenses in memoQ

Fun facts:
- If you have your own personal memoQ license with a serial number, you can typically install it on two different computers, simply by changing the last number of the license from "1" to "2". Exceptions to this may apply for special circumstances, such as academic licenses.
- No licenses need to be assigned on the server for people who have a local license in a version able to work with the version of memoQ TMS on the server. Compatibility information is available in the release notes for the relevant server version. Note that the kind of work to be performed may be relevant here. You might be able to translate or revise with an older license, but not manage projects or publish resources on the server.
Translators:
- Instructions on how to activate a CAL license assigned to you can be found here.
Project managers and memoQ TMS administrators, please note:
- It is usually best to assign license rights via groups rather than individually. Group membership can be enabled or disabled in the individual user login records. So, for example, if an in-house translator needs project management or publication rights for a short time, add that group to the user's login record and disable that group membership when the time is past (but don't delete if those permissions may be needed again in the future).
- If an external service provider has a compatible memoQ license active on their local desktop installation of memoQ, no license will be drawn from the server even if one is assigned in some way. If the same provider accesses the memoQ TMS via a web interface, a license on the server will be used.
