Project ribbon choices for creating a new online project from a template

Starting a new online project from a template by using the context menu in the list of projects on the memoQ Dashboard

Using a template to create new projects is generally more efficient than using the non-template project creation wizards, because decisions only need to be made on two pages, and the first of the two can be ignored. New online projects can be created using the Project ribbon with the third option in the dropdown list in the pick list (1) if online project templates have been added there or under the New Project icon (2), or online projects can be started from the context menu (3) in the list of projects on the memoQ Dashboard.

Depending on the project template, most relevant settings for a project can be pre-configured; client resources can be selected automatically or created if none exist, for example. On the second page, some settings can be configured and relevant project information not defined in the template can be entered.

Second page of the wizard for online project creation from a template
Second page of the online project wizard for templates.

Here are things to do on the second page of the wizard...

  • Select a template if the one you want was not chosen from the pick list of favorites.
  • Enter a project name and meta data if these were not defined by the template. Think about writing a description, because this may help later to determine what to do with a project.
  • Select the project languages if these were not set by the template. If documents were added on the first page, the source language will have been automatically detected, but you may want to choose a language variant.
  • Inspect settings defined in the template which are read-only, i.e .you an see what they are, but to change them you must edit the template and start making the project from that edited version.

Autopilot[edit | edit source]

Online projects created from templates have the Autopilot feature enabled, because it is assumed in most cases that changes will not be made to the project resources. If this is necessary, Autopilot can be turned off in the project's management controls.
